DAYS 2 and 3
On arrival you will be met and shown to the light aircraft flight down to Wolwedans in the NAMIBRAND GAME RESERVE.
Wolwedans Boulders Camp is tucked away amidst large granite rocks with incredible views - mountain ranges, deep red sand dunes and endless plains. With just four spacious tented rooms, a maximum of eight guests makes this a personal and exclusive experience.
Walk the ancient hunting grounds of the bushmen and take a guided scenic drive in the surrounding area and into the dunes. The afternoon excursion often culminates with drinks in a spectacular spot as you watch the sun set.
Fly north west to the coastal town of SWAKOPMUND where you will spend a night at the centrally located Villa Margharita before heading off the next morning on your flying safari adventure.
DAYS 5 to 7
Your three night SKELETON COAST SAFARI will take you further and further up the remote and awe-inspiring coast, landing wherever there is something of interest to see. Highlights include the beaches strewn with bleached whalebones and rusted shipwrecks and the scenery of the vast hinterland, a landscape of haunting beauty, rolling sand dunes, expanses of uninhabited desert plains, fossil beds, unique geological formations, desert-adapted animals and strange vegetation. You may also chance upon a nomadic Himba tribe and spend some time with them.
Accommodation is in three simple but fully equipped camps – Kuidas in the lower reaches of the Huab river in Damaraland, Leylandsdrift in the Hoarusib Valley in Kaokoland and finally overlooking the Kunene River at the Angolan border right in the north.
DAYS 8 to 10
You will be dropped off at the private airstrip in the Ongava Concession bordering ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK for some spectacular game viewing. Your private guide will meet you at the airstrip and look after you during your stay at Ongava Tented Camp – a small camp of eight spacious Meru-style tents. Each has a private verandah giving out onto the bush and you can relax by the swimming pool.
Game viewing in both the concession and park allows for a wide range of activities including day and night drives and walks with the private guide. The camp waterhole provides more superb photographic opportunities and there will be the chance to see both the desert-adapted black and white rhino.
DAYS 11 and 12
Your guide will drive you south to Okonjima Bush Camp on the WATERBERG PLATEAU, a beautiful area of rolling hills. It is the home of the AfriCat foundation, a non-profit organization whose primary conservation aim is to protect and rehabilitate Namibian cheetah and leopard populations threatened by farmers. It makes a great spot to complete your African adventure and hone your photographic skills.
The uniquely styled thatched bungalows have a canvas front which can be opened up, giving panoramic views of the bush. Your time here will be a rewarding experience, visiting the various rehabilitation projects and tracking the radio-collared, but otherwise 'wild', leopard and cheetah by vehicle and on foot.
The guide will drive you back to Windhoek where there will be time to shower and change before heading to the international airport for your flight back to Johannesburg and onwards overnight to London
The largest in the southern hemisphere, FISH RIVER CANYON is one of the wonders of Africa! For the hardy, there is an 85km, five day trail along the length of the canyon following the river course. For the less energetic there are shorter hiking trails and for the lazy, there is a flight over the top! However you view it, the scenery is breath-taking.
