14 nights

Fly overnight from London to Nairobi

Spend a day unwinding at Palacina, a delightful boutique hotel in the tranquil gardens of the State House Valley area of NAIROBI.
Indulge in some spa treatments, relax by the pool, or start your Kenyan safari with a visit to the Nairobi National Park or the Giraffe Centre for an up-close encounter with Rothschild giraffes.

DAYS 3 and 4
Early the next day, fly to MERU NATIONAL PARK where the Adamsons released their lions. Stay at Elsa's Kopje on Mughwango Hill, the site of George Adamson's first camp. The open-front rooms allow magnificent views over the charming park, especially of the sunrise from the comfort of a king-size bed!
Thirteen rivers running through the park provide lush bands of vegetation and its location, straddling the equator, results in an overlap of species not usually found together. You'll have the chance to go on a game walk as well as take game drives by day and after dark in a traditional open safari vehicle. Hilltop sundowners are a perfect end to the day.

DAYS 5 and 6
More breathtaking views await you from the top of the escarpment of the LAIKIPIA PLATEAU, overlooking the Rift Valley and extending to Mount Kenya and all the way to the Mathews Range.
Laikipia is inhabited by an ethnically diverse community including the Maasai, Kikuyu and Samburu and the amazing Loisaba Star Beds - part of the Loisaba private ranch and where you will spend the next two nights - are a joint community partnership. Each Star Bed is on a raised wooden platform partially covered with a thatched roof. The four-poster beds, complete with insect netting, can be wheeled onto the open deck for a blissful sleep under the vast African sky with only the stars as a roof.
Northern species of game thrive here including gerenuk, Grevy's zebra and reticulated giraffe. Viewing can be from the back of a camel as well as on foot or by vehicle.

DAYS 7 to 9
Move on to the renowned MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE with perhaps the most exceptional game viewing in East Africa, to a delightful camp with a genuine bush feel to it. The spacious, luxurious tents at Il Moran are furnished with beautifully handcrafted beds and chairs.
Each has a private verandah overlooking the river, ideal for quiet bird spotting and candlelit dinners, a relaxed way to finish a day which will have included encounters with the Mara's prolific wildlife while on bush walks and game drives. Another thrill is to take a hot air balloon flight, giving a bird's eye perspective to the park.

DAYS 10 to 13
Fly via Nairobi to Zanzibar, then by road to Matemwe Lodge. The view from your hammock on your private veranda on ZANZIBAR will be of the sparkling azure sea across to the little island of Mnemba. With only twelve beautiful bungalows, spend the last few days of your holiday relaxing, swimming and enjoying the delicious cuisine served to you at the restaurant overlooking the beach.

DAY 14
Fly via Nairobi overnight to London

What About?

For even greater diversity of game, add a few days in RWANDA, easily reached from Nairobi, trekking mountain gorillas in VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK and chimpanzees in NYUNGWE FOREST. Whilst on Zanzibar, spend a couple of exciting days in historic STONE TOWN exploring the spice markets and narrow streets, marvelling at the carved doors and minarets.
